Seizing opportunity, with our Simulation Solutions
Seizing opportunity, with our Simulation Solutions
The growth of e-commerce, and the evolution of retail has and will continue to bring fresh demand and opportunities, to the logistics an distribution companies who are able to meet commercial and industrial needs. Designing, building and running the facilities needed to do this requires investment in the millions, and comes with major operational challenges.
Our simulation solutions allow our client partners to identify and overcome the challenges they face, when synchronising every facet of a responsive e-commerce or logistics and distribution centre.
With our support, companies can open up the ability to investigate all aspects of their logistics process - including conveyors, sortation systems and carousels, as well as, automated storage/retrieval equipment and order picking strategies. This allows our client partners to accurately model materials handling facilities, testing equipment, and performance and operational strategies - in a zero-risk environment.
Overcoming operational challenges through Simulation
Overcoming operational challenges through Simulation
Facilities in Distribution and Logistics come with a vast array of products, product categories, order types and packaging types. A new site encompasses many systems for receipt, storage, order picking, collations, packaging and dispatch. Understanding how each of these systems perform individually and how they function holistically, is vital.
Simulation modelling involves creating a computer model to mimic a real logistics process or supply chain. Simulation’s unique time-based approach, in conjunction with the ability to reflect the factors that vary, enables models to accurately replicate the complexities of a real-life system.
Alternative scenarios can be evaluated in order to quantify performance in advance of implementation. This enables proposals to be fine-tuned to exploit opportunities, and allows the interested parties to arrive at a consensus. Reinforced through a proven methodology. The uncertainty and risk associated with major business decisions, involving extremely complex processes, is mitigated.
Simulation Solutions in action
Simulation Solutions in action
Simulation solutions stand to have a huge impact for the organisations who implement them. From influencing the running of a facility through to communicating an understanding of how a company actually operates, and delivers enormous potential to examine all aspects of process improvement. They can return significant savings in capital expenditure and lead to improvements in customer service or process efficiency.
Simulation projects open up the potential to explore a wide range of “what if” questions. This ability to be able to effectively predict the knock on effect of ANY change increases confidence, reduces risk, and helps secure genuine business improvement.
Simul8
Simul8
Simul8 has been developed to take the risk out of Business Process Management allowing users to predict costs and service levels by simulating process capacities and timings.
Simul8 can be used in a variety of industries and across a variety of application areas.
Simul8 has a strong focus on process allowing users to rapidly develop 2D animated models of their process, use the animation to help validate and communicate the issues and use the strong reporting tools within simul8 to analyse the results.
The Process being modelled may be a manufacturing process, or a clinical testing procedure or an A&E facility. All can be handled using the standard elements with the Simul8 software.
Luminova
Luminova
LUMINOVA Group is a world-leading visualization company with production and rendering facilities located in Tokyo and Melbourne providing services to clients around the globe. Their detailed 3D visualisation is predominantly used in product launches, marketing campaigns, property developments, and project management applications.
They also specialize in physical-based rendering, which ensures clients receive accurate, photorealistic images and animations, accelerated production outcomes, reliable delivery timeframes, and visualisation of extremely high quality and value.
Proplanner
Proplanner
Proplanner is the leading web-enabled software on the Microsoft.NET platform for manufacturing process engineering, management and collaboration focussed on providing MPM solutions for discrete part manufacturers. Built around the techniques of Lean Manufacturing and Total Quality Improvement and deployed via the Internet or LAN, Proplanner solutions reduce the time required to launch newly designed processes into manufacturing with better product quality and fewer product startup mistakes.
Anylogic
Anylogic
AnyLogic simulation software is a unique simulation tool harnessing the power of Java to enable users to create portable web-enabled models which will run on any Java-enabled platform and can even be placed on a website as applets. This unique capability allows remote clients to run fully functional interactive simulation models directly in their web browsers without installing any kind of runtime software. This is the ultimate way to maximise uptake of models that add value to your business.
Flexsim
Flexsim
FlexSim is a new, PC based, object-oriented, simulation tool used to model, simulate, and visualise any manufacturing, material handling, logistics or business process.
FlexSim has been developed to allow users to build models directly in a 3D environment with the ease of conventional 2D models. At the same time incorporated within the standard product are Virtual Reality and Process Mapping functionality together with a license to use the worlds leading curve fitting software, ExpertFit.

SakerGrid
SakerGrid
A tool developed by Saker to dramatically reduce the time taken to produce results.
One of the key issues facing simulation modellers is the time it takes to run simulation models. Typical models may take 30 minutes or more to run a single replication, and with a typical scenario needing to be run for at least 30 replications, the results for any scenario can be a source of significant delay.
SakerGrid resolves this issue by enabling replications to be distributed around a grid enabled network or utilising the SakerCloud to run the replications in Parallel.

Witness Horizon
Witness Horizon
Witness is one of the worlds leading simulation product with over 6000 systems sold worldwide. Witness has been successfully used across a wide range of business applications both in manufacturing and service industries. Originally developed in 1986 Witness has undergone a variety of facelifts and now incorporates extensive functionality. Witness is ideally suited to a general modelling environment, where its ease of use and flexibility allow it to be rapidly deployed on a variety of applications.
Witness also links with the 'Witness Optimizer' which is an in house developed optimisation tool that is sold as an additional module to Witness. The optimiser allows you to define experiment parameters and then allow it to do the hard work of multiple simulation runs to identify the 'optimum' solution
Avert
Avert
Avert is a PC based, intelligent decision support tool from ARES Security Corporation, used to model a facility to facilitate security vulnerability analyses and optimisation. Using a 3D model of a site, which encompasses security infrastructure such as intruder detection systems and physical barriers, the system uses Monte Carlo Simulation to compute the probability of a successful attack or intrusion and identify facility weaknesses along adversaries’ most likely path.
The application can be used to model various physical breaches, from protesters to terrorism; it enables users to visualise the security breaches, quantifies the existing risks and measures the effectiveness of current and proposed security configurations.
The parameters can easily be changed within the model to address a wide range of security system configurations, threats and targets. Once the vulnerabilities and pathways have been identified and analysed, new defences and procedures can be evaluated to optimise a facility’s posture and thoroughly understand return on investment. This quantitative approach provides a cost-effective means to continually assess risks and optimise security effectiveness against budget.
