Saker Solutions help Ford Motor Company to verify a proposal to reconfigure an engine block manufacturing line at their Bridgend plant.
Saker's simulation enabled the Ford engineers to review the feasibility of integrate a new material handling system, which incorporated a new carriage to serve a series of processes and load the finished parts onto the outgoing conveyor, in order to identify potential bottlenecks and verify that the proposed configuration would deliver the required hourly throughput.
Ford uses discrete event simulation extensively throughout the business to validate designs and optimise system performance, and this simulation gave them the confidence to go ahead with the proposed changes, safe in the knowledge that it would provide the required ROI.
